We all know what a crazy year this has been for real estate - especially in Denver! With prices on the rise and listings staying low, it’s a challenging time to be a buyer. If you’re on the hunt for your home and you’re feeling discouraged by the market, don’t be! As a real estate agent, I know how frustrating this market can be, and I’m here to help.
Buyer burnout stops here! Check out some tips below on how to stay cool in a hot market.
#1. Talk to your real estate agent
If you feel like your search for a home has no end in sight, have an honest conversation with your real estate agent about your concerns. There may be some additional tactics or strategies you could test out to help bump you to the top of the offer pile. It’s also helpful for your agent to know that you’re frustrated with the process - you can work together to identify some ways to make the process a little bit better.
#2. Reevaluate your options
Take a moment to sit down and really consider your budget and location preferences. If you’re comfortable with your budget or you don’t want to spend any more than you’ve already decided, then don’t change it. But, you could reassess things like location or other must-haves (a certain number of bedrooms, yard specifications, etc.). Maybe a fixer-upper could help you save on budget, or you could look at a neighborhood you hadn’t considered before? In a market like this, being flexible is crucial.
#3. Don’t take rejection personally
With most homes in multiple-offer scenarios, it only makes sense that buyers will have to face being rejected. If you put in an offer for a home that doesn’t get accepted, move on quickly and don’t take it personally. Find out from your real estate agent if there were any specific reasons for the rejection that you could improve upon next time, but don’t dwell.
#4. Remember your goal!
A home is a huge investment! And while it would be nice if the process was less stressful, keep in mind that this is a huge milestone and one worth considering carefully. Even if you’re feeling burned out by the process, remember the WHY. You are taking a big step and that should be celebrated - even if there are a few bumps in the road.
