Short on time but looking for easy house projects that can increase your home value? Whether you are thinking about moving soon or you just want to give your house a little TLC, there are some easy items that can increase the value of your home.

Let’s talk about five inexpensive, simple home projects you can tackle in a weekend!

#1. Clear the clutter throughout your home

When was the last time you cleaned out that hall closet? Or maybe you’ve been avoiding your basement because it’s full of stuff you don’t need anymore? Now is the time! Not to mention, it could add nearly $2,000 in value to your home.

Go room by room and declutter anything you don’t use anymore. Create a trash pile, a donation pile, and a pile to sell. With apps like NextDoor and Facebook Marketplace, it’s easy to sell things you don’t use anymore.

#2. Refresh your paint

You don’t have to paint every room in the house, but maybe there is a room or two that could use a new coat. You could also focus on the trim or the doors inside your house too! Depending on how many rooms you paint, you could boost your home value by almost $2,000! If you’re trying to sell, stick with neutral colors that will appeal to most buyers. Although it’s a quick project, painting a room or two can give you a big benefit when it’s time to put your home on the market.

#3. Replace your cabinet hardware

Looking for a quick and simple way to give your kitchen a breath of fresh air? New hardware on your cabinets and drawers can make a huge impact! This project will likely cost just a few hundred dollars and it can help your kitchen look new. Keep in mind that you’ll want to use good quality, simple, modern hardware options if you are planning on listing your home soon.

#4. Update your front porch

Your porch is your home’s first impression, so it never hurts to take a little time to improve it. Start with your front door - you don’t have to replace the whole door, sometimes just a new coat of paint can do the trick! One study even found that homes with darker color doors (black, charcoal, or gray) sold for $6,000 more than expected. Don’t forget that you may need to have a color approved by your HOA, depending on your neighborhood! You can also clean up and replant any flower pots that might need an update, and put a new welcome mat down.

#5. Improve curb appeal with new landscaping

Did you know that easy items like mowing the grass, weeding, and cleaning out dead plants can add $1,000 to your home’s value? You can take it a step further and add some new plants or garden beds to really change the look of your yard. Find plants that will thrive in your environment and are native to the area.
