5 Tips to Revamp Your Space for Less

Updated: Mar 7, 2021

We’re all spending more time at home these days, and whether you want to update your space to sell your house or just to enjoy it more, there are quick things you can do to improve your home on a budget.

Here are a few quick and easy ways to revamp your space for a little (or no!) investment.

#1. Rearrange your furniture

This one is easy because you don’t need to buy anything at all - just move around what you already have! Designers often recommend taking down all of your art and decor to help you start thinking about alternative layouts for your space. If you want to try a room planning tool, check out 3Dream (it’s free!).

Visit design accounts on Instagram or Pinterest for inspiration on room layouts and art placements. You never know what will inspire you! With so many amazing images available, it’s easy to browse a large variety of styles and options.

#2. Get thrifty

Whether you need a new couch or a new piece of art, you can probably find it second-hand! Check out the For Sale listings on Nextdoor, Facebook Marketplace, or Craigslist. With so many people undergoing home renovations and redesigns right now, you can find high-end options for much less than buying new.

Shopping second-hand is a fantastic way to reduce, reuse, recycle, and save money! If you do decide to shop through these online sites, just remember to stay safe. Check out some safety tips for shopping here.

#3. Swap out artwork

If you aren’t ready for a full room re-arrange, changing out your artwork is a quick and easy way to update any room. If you have framed photos, consider updating them or printing new photos in black and white to update the look. You can also paint your frames to get a new look without a new price tag!

If you have lots of artwork and you can’t decide which to display, consider a gallery wall. This is a popular design feature that allows you to showcase different styles of art in a cohesive look. Visit this article for tips on how to style one so it looks timeless and elegant.

#4. Change out your hardware

Looking to update your kitchen but don’t want to go all-in on a big renovation? Changing out your drawer pulls and handles is a small project with a big impact. By the way, it’s much easier than it sounds! Not to mention, it can deliver powerful results. For a step-by-step guide on this quick and easy project, click here.

#5. Add some greenery to your space

You don’t have to have a green thumb to enjoy plants in your space! Whether you grab a bouquet of fresh flowers at the grocery store or add some potted plants around your home, bringing the outdoors indoors is always beautiful.

Worried about caring for finicky plants? Here’s a list of 23 low-maintenance house plants that are easy to keep alive. If you’re not ready for a long-term plant commitment, simply pick up some flowers on your next grocery run. Rearranging a bouquet into smaller vases for several rooms in your home also makes for a fun and creative project.
